In “No Man is Chair,” four performers wearing fuzzy socks set out to create a short film confronting the wrongs of colonisation. They find themselves stranded on a single chair —an „island“ in an isolated room with a wet floor. In their search for a more prosperous future, personal ideals clash with the group’s mission - and the performance unravels. Slowly, their roles begin to overtake their real selves, and the boundary between performance and reality dissolves.
What begins as a controlled exploration of power and responsibility soon spirals into absurdity. Each performer takes on an archetype: the ruler, the infant, the pawn, and the jester - roles that force them to confront uncomfortable questions about individual freedom and collective responsibility. As they lose control of the narrative they set out to construct, they must decide whether to cling to their individual morality or surrender to the absurdity they’ve unwittingly created.
